Weddings
The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage is one of the Church's most sacred rites, and it is Christ Church’s great privilege and delight to minister with couples who are contemplating this beautiful, sacramental rite. The solemn bond of Holy Matrimony is intended to be a lifelong commitment between two persons for their mutual joy.
Christ Church recognizes and affirms marriage between same-sex couples, and applies the same criteria to all couples seeking to be married. (The Celebration and Blessing of a Marriage 2, is a revised version of the gender neutral adaptation of the marriage rite found in the 1979 Book of Common Prayer.)
First Steps for Weddings at Christ Church
Please contact the office for the Wedding application. Applications must be received at least 6 months prior to the proposed wedding date. Weddings are not scheduled during the season of Lent through Easter Day. No wedding date or time is ever confirmed until the application is approved by the Rector. The earlier an application is submitted, the better.
We will review your application, and the parish calendar, and then we'll contact you regarding the status of your application. At that point we can discuss particulars such as licenses, flowers, photographers.
All wedding services are held in the church sanctuary (seats 325). Services include premarital preparation and service planning, musical selection and performance (a bench fee is charged if the organist is not used), bulletin production (standard template), set up and coordination, rehearsal and marriage service, filing of marriage license.
Please contact us at admin@christchurchnewbrunswick.org or (732) 545-6262 to receive information regarding costs. Some costs are adjustable in cases of financial need; if this is true for you, please discuss these special circumstances during your initial meeting with clergy.
